how can we soften the impact of crime victims.

In the law and order episode, Harper had changed her whole life and her appearance because she was a victim of crime. Maybe her outcome would have been different if more people had been there for her. I think she can never be the same but she can make it better, if she had continued taking counselling sessions or talking about too a friend or family member it would allow her to deal with it in a more comfortable manner. Harper turned her life upside down because she didn't get the help she needed.

The young man who was assaulted will never be the same. But there are some ways for him to live his life more easy. For him to soften the impact on himself he needs to be willing to get help from others around him. Family, friends, teachers, or counsellors can be helpful to talk to as well. Not only is it going to be difficult to cope but it will be challenging too. Opening up can be hard for some people so another way is to rite down the things you are thinking and feeling in a journal or a diary. Crime victims could experience panic attacks or be in constant fear. The main way to handle the stress is to take deep breaths, drink water, and stay as calm as you possibly can. You can never fully recover, but the healing process will take time. It's not something that can be overcome in a short period of time.

News Story.

In this story a young man was stabbed in the face with scissors, the attack happened on school grounds at a college. The attacker may have even been attending the college. The teachers and students immediately rushed to help the injured boy and was then taken to the hospital. The impact on the young man will be unforgettable.  He will be scared to go to school and interact with others and will probably have a scar on his face from where the attacker assaulted him. Meaning ever time he looks in the mirror or sees himself in a reflection he will always be reminded of that day. He might even develop a fear of scissors, you can never fully recover after you have become a victim of crime, and the healing process will take quite some time. But not everyone is affected severely as others, some may deal with their trauma better than most. And some will have a huge struggle with finding their own way to cope.

what are the short and long term impacts on victims of crime?

In the law and order episode, Harper a girl who was a victim of crime was traumatized by sexual assault. she was raped in her own apartment. She faced serious long term and short term damage physically and mentally. She did all the right things she called the police immediately after, and gave the police her story. After her assault Harper changed. She started dressing differently, quit her job, broke up with her boyfriend, moved to a different apartment, started working out, and put many locks on her door, she even wore her running shoes to bed. Even after she reported her assault to the police, it had been six months later and she was being re victimised. She had to relive her incident all over again. She will remain scard for the rest of her life and will never forget.
